ZAZENDA YOGA RETREAT – SURRENDER GARDEN
June 20-27 (6 days of yoga)
Aug 29- Sep 05 (6 days of yoga)
If you would like to come a few days earlier or stay longer to prolong your vacation, you are welcome!
Feel free to inquire about other available dates in case you would like to come with a few friends or on your own!
Zazenda Yoga Retreat organizes two to four exclusive yoga retreats per year. Exclusive meaning that the groups are limited to a few participants so that everyone can be seen and treated individually. The ideal number of participants is up to 8 (max 12). The venue is also exclusive, as it is surrounded by stunning nature wherever you look. A modern spacious house surrounded by lush, mature garden is waiting to accommodate you. We have balconies, terraces and chill out areas for relaxing, gazing at the mountains, sea, and surrounding views. Or you could say Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space: The five elements which we are working with in our yoga practice.
Zazenda House and Surrender Garden offer a serene and nurturing environment for deepening your yoga and meditation practices. The combination of asana, pranayama, Yin yoga, meditation, and chanting provides a holistic approach to releasing tension, building resilience in the nervous system, and cultivating a peaceful mind. Being surrounded by lush gardens and vibrant nature can indeed enhance relaxation and openness, making it an ideal setting for both physical and subtle inner work.
If you're looking to reconnect with yourself, release stored energy, and create a more balanced and harmonious state of being, this retreat seems like a wonderful opportunity. The structured schedule with morning and afternoon classes allows for a balanced rhythm of activity and introspection, supporting both the body and mind in their journey toward greater well-being. Enjoy the experience!
The chakras were considered as tools for spiritual growth in old times. Nowadays we have mixed them up with rainbow colours, essential oils, etc. But the chakras are the keys for our spiritual evolution. Tantric philosophy created tools for working with them through various methods and auxiliaries. According to classical traditions, yoga always meant meditation and not body work. Yoga asana has evolved since these days and so have anatomy and physiology. Today we know that the physical practice/asana, modern yoga is so focused at, can help to release blocked energy in body created by tensions and traumas stored in our muscles.
Yoga as outlined in classical texts is a holistic practice that integrates various methods—such as *pranayama* (breath control), *pratyahara* (withdrawal of senses), and *dhyana* (meditation)—to cultivate self-awareness, honesty, and openness. These practices are not quick fixes but require consistent effort and patience over time.
In today's fast-paced world, there's often a desire for instant results or a "highway to God," as you put it. However, yoga teaches us that true transformation is a gradual process. It’s about showing up on the mat (or meditation cushion) regularly, without attachment to immediate outcomes. The physical postures (*asanas*) are just one part of the journey; they prepare the body and mind for deeper practices like meditation and self-inquiry, which ultimately help us connect with our true nature.
The beauty of yoga lies in its emphasis on the journey rather than the destination. Yoga is not about shortcuts but about consistent, mindful practice over time. It’s a lifelong journey of self-discovery and growth.
If you are interested in deepening your asana work in order to release locked up energy in your body and to create more resilience in your nervous system and/or deepening your meditation practice to create more peaceful and silent mind, you are welcome to Zazenda House and Surrender Garden. Surrounded by lush garden and rich colourful nature will help you feel relaxed and open to new experiences, whether physical or more subtle.
During the retreat we have classes in the morning (asana, pranayama) and in the afternoon (Yin yoga, meditation, chanting).
The best time for a retreat is during May, June, and September when the weather is pleasant and not too hot.
If you are a yoga teacher, you are welcome to bring your own group! Our location is just 25 km from the nearest airport in Dubrovnik, which is well-served by Norwegian Airlines and Ryanair, with multiple flights available each week. The village offers several accommodation options, making it ideal for larger groups.
